Update on Masks (8/6/21)
Recent concern about the COVID-19 Delta variant led the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to advise that all individuals — regardless of vaccination status — wear masks in indoor spaces in regions of the country experiencing substantial COVID-19 transmission. Since then, the variant has continued to spread nationally and is now putting significant strain on healthcare systems throughout Kansas and neighboring states.
In light of this, effective August 9, the University of Kansas has reinstated its mandate that everyone on campus — regardless of vaccination status — wear masks indoors. Additionally, masks are strongly recommended in outdoor crowded spaces on our campuses. You can view the full text of the mask policy for additional detail.
Masks will still be required on public transportation and in campus healthcare settings in accordance with our previous policy. Members of our community who need a cloth mask can request one by completing the PPE request form.
Concerns about individuals on campus not complying with the mask requirement can be reported using the online COVID-19 Safety Non-compliance Report form.
